Hotels & Travel
We recommend that guests stay in the beautiful town of Ortigia. A small island with three bridges connecting it to Syracuse town.
It is small but perfectly formed, and the accommodation on offer reflects its rustic, baroque charm. Accommodation is largely hidden away down small nooks in streets or above shops and restaurants. As a result, very few have pools, however there are places to catch some Sicilian sun listed here.
The airport to fly into is ‘Catania’ and the flight is around 3 hours from London.
If you are renting a car, there are lots of companies in the terminal but you must pre-book as it’s high season. Alternatively, taxi’s are available outside the airport.
Journey time is 50 minutes from Catania to Ortigia.
Due to the area being quite small, and August being high season, we recommend securing accommodation as early as possible.
As just mentioned, accommodation in Ortigia is rustic and authentic to Italian hospitality. If searching for accommodation, we suggest using ‘Piazza Minerva, Syracuse’ as a point of interest to focus your search.
